Young Goodman Brown was a man who had been good his whole life. As a result of that he thought everyone around him was good as well. One night Goodman comes across a road leading into a dark creep forest to then find the devil.

I think the central message of the book is, Gatsby trying to re-live a memory or a feeling that's already dead for the other person. "Money won't buy you loyalty nor friends," is a big thing that happens in this book as it shows how Gatsby had may friends, lots of wealth, but at the end he rested alone with only 2 people whom mourned his death.
